ツバメよりもドバトが速い? 『トンデモ一行知識の世界』間違い探し編
『トンデモ一行知識の世界』 P.18 欄外
コウモリの飛ぶ速さは秒速 5m の時速 18km 程度、ツバメは秒速 9m の
時速 32km 程度で、ツバメの方が速い。
ツバメの速さは、the Cambridge Encyclopedia of Ornithology からの孫引き。

Robert さんによると、The Audubon Society Encyclopedia of North American
Birds reports that in 1930 では、その倍以上の時速 46 マイルだそうだ。
(アメリカのツバメがそんなに急ぐ理由は、高速道路を走る金属の化け物から
逃げているせいでは、とか投げやり? なことも言っているけど)。
こちらのアメリカのツバメの速さを採用すると、秒速約 20m で時速約 72km。
コウモリの秒速の根拠は、下記引用では「ある研究によると」でちょっと弱いけど、
まあ、エサの蛾を追いかけるときの計算例に使われる数値も、秒速 4~5m だし、
ということで。
